My name is Allison Jandu, and I am the owner and founder of Potty Training Consultant. I'm also a wife and mom, and four-time published author. I originally developed my passion when potty training my own two kids, and ever since I have been working hard to bring reliable, science-based potty training resources to families all over the world.
Educationally, I have my B.S. from the University of Baltimore in 2006. Since then, I have spent over 5,000 hours researching all things potty training, early childhood development, and psychology. I am very proud to say I have worked with over 3,000 families through my online courses and private consultations. The children have been as young as 14 months and as old as 18 years, of all abilities.
My potty training approach is all about helping kiddos build independence and empowerment, and I absolutely thrive on seeing them succeed. Nothing brings me more joy than knowing I helped a child through this important milestone.
My services have been so well-received that, in 2020, I launched a certification program to help other ambitious women start their own potty training businesses to bring more resources to the millions of families in need all over the world!
The Wife & Mom
I am happily married to my best friend Raj, a Kenyan-born Sikh, brilliant scientist, and the best daddy a family could ask for. There's nothing we love more than spending time with our two crazy kiddos. But we also enjoy traveling, visiting every new ice cream shop we can find, and binge-watching TV series after the kids go to bed. We have an amazing relationship because we work as a team and always know how to make each other laugh.
I knew my true calling was to be a mom as soon as my son Evan was born. Little sister Layla surprised us and came along 22 months later. Even though it wasn't planned, I've loved having them so close together. Evan is a smart, sweet, determined, and goofy football and Lego lover. Layla is my little firecracker sidekick - she has the biggest heart of anyone I've ever known and she loves Michael Jackson, cooking, and art. She was also diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in December 2021. You'll see lots of them scattered in my Instagram stories in between all the potty info!
I've always had a passion for writing - I think I wrote my first book when I was in second grade (yes, my mom kept it!). So being able to say I am now a four-time published author still feels unreal.
I have two books with Rockridge Press - my parent guide, Potty Training for Busy Parents, and children's book, Let's Go to the Potty! I also collaborated with Mind+Matter and authored their customizable potty book, I Use the Potty.
My newest book, How Do You Poo?, is my true "baby". It is completely self-published so I was really able to make it everything I wanted it to be. It was written from the heart and I'm very proud of it! Knowing that it is helping so many little ones all over the world with a major obstacle like pooping on the potty is an absolute dream come true.
